The semi-comprehensive plan provides BonStandard Benefits for 45 chronic diseases, maternity care, basic and advanced dental, optometry, and unlimited hospitalization.

BonStandard 2024 FAQS
What is the Bonitas BonStandard hospital plan?
The BonStandard hospital plan offers unlimited admission to any private hospital and uses a linked Formulary of chronic medication. Other BonStandard benefits include PMBs (Prescribed Minimum Benefits), overseas travel, out-patient treatment, maternity coverage, and more. You only pay for a maximum of three children. Full-time student dependents only pay child rates up to age 24 years, subject to an annual review. Managed Care protocols apply.
What Prescribed Minimum Benefits are covered by the Bonitas BonStandard plan?
BonStandard provides cover for the 45 chronic illnesses, up to a maximum of R22 440 per household and R11 180 per beneficiary according on the applicable formulary. You will be required to pay a 40% co-payment if you decide to use a medication that is not listed on the formulary. And your medication needs to be obtained through the Bonitas Pharmacy Network. A forty percent co-payment will be required if you decide to utilize a pharmacy that is not in the network. Prior authorization is necessary.

What Maternity Benefits does the BonStandard plan offer?
The BonStandard plan provides members with the following maternity benefits. Up to Twelve consultations while pregnant, two 2D ultrasound scans and one Amniocentesis. Four postpartum visits with a midwife (one of which may be with a lactation specialist), and screening for hearing in newborns.
