Coastal Core Options And Benefits: The Coastal Core Hospital Plan Only provides unlimited medial aid cover for private hospitalization in the four coastal provinces. It also covers all approved chronic medications when purchased from a MedXpress pharmacy, as well as in-hospital specialist cover at up to 100% of the Discovery rate. Chronic Illness Cover
The Coastal Core plan includes the Chronic Illness Benefit, which covers approved medicine for Chronic Disease List (CDL) diseases. Approved medicines from the Chronic Illness Benefit medicine list (formulary) will be fully covered up to the Scheme Rate.
- Chronic condition cover for 27 Chronic Disease List conditions, after approval, based on the Prescribed Minimum Benefits.
- The chronic medicine cover is unlimited for approved medications on Coastal Core’s medicine list at a designated Core service provider pharmacy.

For unlimited cover Coastal Core hospital plan members need to plan a admission to an approved hospital in one of the four coastal provinces.

If you use a hospital outside of coastal regions, we will cover up to 70% of the Discovery Health Rate (DHR). This does not apply during an emergency.
